Bluff: One of the fundamental strategies in the game of poker is “Bluffing” – or pretending to have better cards than you actually do. The main intention of a bluffer is to scare his opponents out of the hand so that they can believe or think that he or she is holding phenomenal cards. In that way, they would leave soon ensuring that the player has better chances to win the game. A player who uses this technique usually bets higher than his/her cards warrant.
Conservative play: As the name indicates, a conservative player is the one who usually bets the minimum and if a situation arises where in the cards are not in his or her favor, he would be quick to fold. Many times, conservative plays do not fetch large amounts of money to win as it can only be a good way to keep more money safely in your pocket. One cannot win big pots by playing a conservative game because if your opponents come to know that you are a conservative player, they will try to bail any time to ensure that you bet more than the minimum amount. Action: Poker games can be much interesting or thrilling if they are filled with a lot of action. Action here means getting busy. It refers to the amount of betting being done at a given table. Aggressive play: An aggressive player is the one who stays in the game till the end. He or she frequently bets the maximum limit in the game in the beginning levels and forces his or her opponent to abandon their comfort zone.  Aggressive playing can be done only by those who have good expertise or skill in playing in this game and it can be a quick way to win lots of case within no time.
Tell
It is a gesture or a mannerism that a player repeats in order to let the other player know how good his or her hand is. Everyone has one tell regarding their hand and no body would ever want his or her opponent to know about his or her tell. When someone one lies, he or she inadvertently gives little clues to his opponents. Some signs which one usually gives is like wiping his brown which means that he has a good hand. This is an indication that he is trying to control his excitement. Another example can be a player gritting her teeth when she has a low hand. Whatever the clue you give, one should always try to analyse and figure out what his opponent’s clues are. Also, in that process he should try to hide his own tells. One should try to play as stoically as possible, making it difficult for the other players to discover your tell. For this one should have to practice that poker face.

Process involved in the game of Poker

Unlike the game of bridge, Poker is a game which is played most of the time for a lofty goal and that is for cash. It is mandatory that before beginning the game of poker, all the individuals participating in the game should collectively decide on a betting limit. This is done in order to keep the game friendly and the game will prevent the people from gambling properties and other things away. Let us now know how do the game of poker proceeds and also the various phases involved while playing this wonderful game. They are as follows:
1) The game of poker guarantees that someone will always win something on each hand. For that, it is necessary that each play place a “token-bet” into the pot and this is done even before the cards are dealt. It is known as “ante” and it can range from anything depending on the status of the player. For example, if you are a poor college student, you can place a nickel as an ante and if you are a very rich person, then you can place thousands of dollars. The game also becomes more thrilling if there are valuable token-bets.
2) The person who deals with the card and who distributes the card among all the players is called the dealer. Once the antes are coughed by each player, the dealer starts dealing the cards face down around the table. The dealing always starts from the player to the left of the dealer and continues in a clockwise direction. If the dealer is also involved as a player in the game, then he always deals to himself last. The dealer deals first card of every one in a circle and then goes back to deal the second card around the circle and so on. The cards are dealt to all the players in a way where in each player holds five cards and not more than that. After the dealing is done, the remaining of the deck is kept in the middle of the table and the game begins.
3) Every player has a look over his or her set of cards and placing of a bet takes place. The question which arises is that: “who would place the bet first?” Well, there are no hard and fast rules for this and there are many ways to select that who would play first. Generally, in a poker game, the player who sits on the left of the dealer is given the chance to bet first. The person to on the left has to bet first and it will go on around the table for every hand.
4) There are several terminologies which are related to the activities which take place once the game starts. One has several options to choose in the first round of betting, depending on whether someone has made a bet or not. If no one has made a bet yet, then the player has two choices: Check and Open.
